Senior Medical Science Liaison - Lexicon Pharmaceuticals
Susan Giacalone is a Senior MSL at Lexicon Pharmaceuticals. Susan began her clinical career in oncology nursing in Philadelphia and served as the Director for Clinical Services for Salick Health Care at Temple University Cancer Center. She moved to Michigan and worked as a Research Associate and IRB member at Wayne State University before spearheading the development of the Centralized Clinical Trials Core Facility at the Karmanos Cancer Institute in Detroit. Susan has over 15 years of MSL experience in the pharmaceutical industry, having held positions at Schering-Plough and Novartis, prior to joining Lexicon. Her roles in hematology/oncology, hepatology, rare diseases and endocrinology have allowed her to expand her resume by tapping into her skills and experiences working on several start up teams, novel projects and drug launches. In her role at Lexicon, Susan is an integral part of the newly developed medical affairs team, collaborating closely with the MSL team, clinical development, training and marketing as the company prepares to launch its very first commercial product. Lexicon Pharmaceuticals, is a biopharmaceutical company focused on developing breakthrough treatments for human disease including carcinoid syndrome, diabetes and other indications. Susan Giacalone holds a master’s of science (MSN) in nursing administration from Wayne State University.
